During twenty plus years as a social worker, I was subjected to daily abuse by those I was trying to help. The menopause had me in it's Jaws but as a single parent with a crippling mortgage, I felt trapped. I could only dream of downsizing to a stress-free life in a warmer climate. When my only child became independent, I sold up and quit my job. With no forward planning I took off blindly in a battered old caravan. I had no idea where I'd end up or what I'd do but anything had to be better than social work. After many misadventures, I ended up working with dogs in Spain. I love dog and my work with them is so much more rewarding than with the drugged-up thugs I had to deal with in social work.
